Nahayan Mabarak: Approved the Names of the Winners for the Award
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, President of the Board of Trustees of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, expressed his appreciation for the support received from the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (May God protect Him) and the support of his Highness’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs. The Award has been prompted forward to take its leading position at the regional and international levels, and has contributed to strengthening the UAE’s role in serving the blessed tree and agricultural innovation around the world.
During a press conference held by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Secretary General of the Award, on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2020, at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, announced the winners of the 11th Session in the presence of Dr. Helal Humaid Saed Al Kaabi, Member of the Board of Trustees, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Council for Quality and Conformity, member of the Scientific Committee of the Award and the presence of Mr. Musallam Obaid Al-Khales Al Ameri, CEO of Al Foah Company. He praised the prominent level reached by the Award for its 12th Session. Thanks to the great trust and guidance of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Award.
The Secretary General of the Award added that the winners of the 12th Session were determined in accordance to the international standards and mechanisms used in presenting the award, based on the report of the scientific committee and arbitration of the participating works and the approval of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and President of the Award’s Board of Trustees. The approved winners of the five award categories are as follows:
Category: Distinguished Innovative Studies and Modern Technology:

A Qualitative Leap and A Great Step
The Secretary General added that since its initiation, the Award has been made with the support of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (May God protect Him) and was honored to have carried the name of His Highness, and this has placed a great responsibility on the Award to move towards wider horizons, and achieve leadership to become the first Award of its kind worldwide.
He emphasized that the great success and the qualitative achievement of the award was through the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, UAE Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and the continued support of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs with the follow-up on His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and President of the Board of Trustees of the Award.
His Excellency congratulated the Award’s winners in all categories, stressing that the winners of the various categories of the award are an added value that contributes to the development of the date palm sector and agricultural innovation worldwide, expressing the hope that the award will receive more participation in its next session to serve this sector and promote it at all levels.
Dr. Helal Humaid Saed Al Kaabi, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Award, confirmed that the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation has marked in its 12th session through a series of points highlighted by the number of applicants to 141 candidates representing 28 countries around the world, where the Category of Distinguished Innovative Studies and Modern Technoloy as usual have the highest participation rate of 59 participants, followed by the Category of Pioneering and Sophisticated Innovations serving the Agricultural Sector with 39 participants, the Category of Influential Figure in the Field of Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation with 22 participants, the Category for Pioneering Development and Productive Projects 16 participants, noting that the methodology of selection in the Secretariat of the Award is highly transparent and totally neutral.
UAE’s Outstanding Farmer Award
According to Mr. Musallam Obaid Al Khales Al-Ameri, CEO of Al Foah Company, pointed out that the award for Distinguished Farmers and Innovative Farms organized by Al Foah Company in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Award, during its third session, attracted a group of eminent farm owners on regional level that reached 135 farmers with the best and finest date palm plantations in the UAE, whose competitions were concentrated in four categories, including small, medium, above-average and large farms, in addition to agricultural innovation. The winners of the award were identified in accordance to the criteria and mechanisms used in presenting the award.
Dr. Helal Al Kaabi also emphasized the importance of the Distinguished Farmer Award in supporting and motivating UAE farmers to develop agricultural services, improve UAE dates and enhance competitiveness at the local and international level. He praised the success in date palm cultivation and date production in the UAE. He added that based on the report of the scientific committee and the evaluation of farms by experts in Al Foah Company, the winners are as follows:
